Our Mission

The mission of Special Olympics Ohio is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Our Organization

Special Olympics of Delaware County (SODC) is overseen by Special Olympics Ohio, National and International organizations. Current sports offered include soccer, bowling, aquatics, basketball, athletics, bocce, volleyball, powerlifting, golf and tennis. We provide services for all residents of Delaware County, Ohio.

Our Funding

SODC provides sports opportunities at no cost. Our primary support consists of community donations. We provide uniforms and equipment. Our athletes benefit from local, regional and state events both social and athletic. There is never a fee for participation in these events.

SODC is a self-funded subsidiary of Special Olympics of Ohio, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
