Dear Athletes and Friends of SODC,

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the 7th Annual Battle of the Bags Cornhole Classic at Pastimes Pub & Grill on Saturday, August 5, 2017. This is our biggest fundraising event for the year and we need your help to make it successful. Here are the ways you can help. All proceeds from the event will benefit SODC and our athletes.

See our Battle of the Bags web site or the PDF of the Flyer for more information.

Sign up to Play – First and foremost, we need teams to sign up to pay in the cornhole tournament, which those who have played in the past know is great fun! You can register your team at http://sodcoh.org/botb/. The registration fee for a team is only $60 and includes lunch for both players. The first 32 teams to register will also receive T-shirts.

To make the tournament even more fun for players of all skill levels, we have changed the format this year to ensure that everyone has a chance of winning a prize. In the initial round-robin stage of the tournament, teams will be placed in to 4-team pools and will play each team in their pool. The top two teams from each pool will advance to a single elimination "winners" bracket. The bottom two teams in each pool will also advance a single elimination bracket, thereby ensuring that you have a chance to win a prize even if you are not a "pro." Prizes will be awarded to the top four teams in each bracket. The amount of the prizes will be determined by the number of participants and are guaranteed to exceed the entry fee.

Additional information about the tournament is available at http://sodcoh.org/botb/.

Finally, if you are an athlete who would like to play, but do not have the funds to do so, please contact Josh Messersmith at 419-310-4548 or jmessers@sodc.org as we have several donors who have offered to sponsor athletes who would like to participate.

Volunteer – We also need volunteers to run the tournament to make this a successful event. The volunteer signup is online at SignupGenius.

Donate Raffle Items – Last but not least, we need families and businesses to donate baskets for the raffle. Raffle baskets often have themes like movie night, date night, etc. It would also be very helpful if you would be willing to go around to local businesses to solicit gift cards and other items for the raffle. If you would like to donate a basket or help solicit donations from businesses, please contact Josh Messersmith at 419-310-4548 or jmessers@sodc.org.

Thank You to Our Sponsors – We would also like to thank the law firm of Arenstein & Andersen for being the presenting sponsor this year, Pastimes Pub & Grill for being our host, Woodgamz.com for donating the cornhole boards, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital for donating funds to help with the costs of the event. Without the help of these sponsors, the event would not be possible.
